respected Englishman's book to see why SSgt Poole's combat numbers are pretty impressive, earned as a down and dirty combat spearhead enlisted tanker.
Poole was involved in the worst "first German" contact in France and Belgium. Per 3rd AD: Pool is noteworthy as he fought in 21 separate engagements over his 81-day career. In nearly all of them, he was the lead tank in the lead platoon of the lead task force of the lead combat command of the division; the "Spearhead's Spearhead."
FYI, Warner's did Poole's story as a Hollywood film, but they stole the story and changed the names to keep things just legal enough. Film sucked.
