June 28, warbird flyin at Ohio river view rc club in Elizabeth, Indiana.
Miles: 150.
What a wonderful facility. Besides the 800' perfectly paved runway is the grass runway next to it, PLUS, each end of the runway has another football length of runway grass giving a total 1400' runway. First club that I've been to where a sprinkler system is installed! The masters is being held there, this year. The flight line has five very nice, raised areas for each pilot. And no trees. The pit area has two very nicely finished (sided) open sided covers. Electricity is in the pit area. A power plant 1.5 miles away with 300' smoke stacks provides nice confirmation of which way the wind is blowing.
My three comrades and I got there on Friday and had a great time. Paul brought his grill and everyone else brought food, etc for cooking. Great hamburgers with bacon Friday night and egg mcmuffins with bacon for Saturday morning. Paul brought a flat screen TV and we watched a movie Friday night.
