It funny, I have FPV stuff and know a lot of guys very heavily into this and they all thought Amazon's announcement on "60 Minutes" was a joke.

A recent FAA OIG report said there is a chance that the FAA will NEVER fulfill the mandate to incorporate UAS in the national airspace. Having worked on one of the key systems needed for the_really_big UAS to operate, I agree with the OIG.

"As a result, while it is certain that FAA will accommodate UAS operations at limited locations, it is uncertain when and if full
integration of UAS into the NAS will occur."

EDIT. IMHO, The only systems I think the FAA will ever allow are line of site, like photography. It is stunning to think that Amazon really thinks this is going to work.
