AC 91-57 is no rule, law, or regulation. It is only an advisory. It is not a requirment in section 336 except perhaps near airports.
Did not say it was, however it was mentioned as background in the FAA's inperpretation of section 336 and has been referenced by the FAA for over 30 years in all matters pertaining to model aircraft. That pretty much sets the precedent, not the AMA safety code. It is becomming harder and harder for the AMA to justify that change in punctuation.
