The YGEs work great as long as you don't use them for down line braking. I have several with 100's of flights on them. I did have one(YGE80) fry on me several years ago but that was because I forgot to leave it off braking when I took off. Up until now I have always flown with a very low idle and dealt with the speed increase in certain down lines. To me it was no different than flying a 2 cycle glow engine which I flew for years until I converted all over to electric.

I just purchased a couple of Jeti Mezon ESC's with the intent of using the down line braking in the future. Up until now I have managed without it. Unfortunately, our new proposed Masters sequence in the US pretty much requires it. The only real benefit of the YGE's is the lighter weight if you are in need of it.

I've seen my share of people have problems with Castle ESC's too and I just don't care for the overkill in the wire size which is a pain in the neck to solder to. So Jeti could be the direction I'm going. It's a shame that all the ESC's out there are not as easy program as that of the Castle ESC's.
