There are different varieties of 2.4ghz. Some have a bind button, some have a bind plug, but usually there is a specific sequence that needs to be followed. We really need to know the manufacturers of the transmitter and reciever you are trying to bind. You could also lookup the manufacturer and likely find a manual for the radio on their website.

With any used rc, especially one with radio problems it's always a good idea to recenter the servos and the linkage. Take the servo horns off the servos and then turn the radio on, centering the trims. Then put the servo horns back on and adjust the trim (or subtrim if equipped) and check the servo throws. I'd also try checking the servos with your other radio to completely rule them out.
