I'm the only one seriously flying pattern in my home state of Tasmania. We only have a few comps a year. I travel to mainland Australia 3 to 5 times a year for the major comps and at around 2k each comp it gets expensive. I practise by myself so I learn as much as I can while I'm there. I'm pretty happy that I've made it to F3A level this way. It's hard, but it can be done.
