After arriving home I worked on the left side of the cowl, cutting out for the plug. But stumbled upon a major problem with using this engine. It will not work. I tried cutting up a shorter version of the cowl ring to give clearance of the cylinders but that wont work. I have only one option at this point, split the top off the cowl and ring. Making it a two piece and securing it together using pan head machine screws and strips of aluminum might work. Because it is just too big of a motor for that ring ever to slid off.
So has anyone ever tried this? I think I know how I want to do it, but I am open to ideas from someone who has seen or done this before. Not in the mood to experiment.
