Last year the company surveyed the market, it was very extensive and clever questions on that, I do not know if you have participated on that but attached to the survey there was a sweepstakes and they gave away a Viper air-frame the winner was David Jackson, but answer your question the KAI T50 was first place followed by the PAC FA T50 and then followed by T45 and others in sequence. So based on the data received for the survey, that was done worldwide, they decided to go ahead with the T50 project. According to Niki in another thread it will be a another survey next year.
