Well, at least it works. By a stroke of good luck and a minor miracle, I found three identical gears that looked like they might work for a reverse rotation gear train. Incredibly, the distance between the turret center and the cupola center exactly matched the axle center spacing of the three gears. The central gear is fixed and the next gear rotates to turn the cupola gear in the opposite direction. How simple. could it be? The cupola always faces forward no matter in which direction the turret is facing. None of the turret rotation ring gears that I have will fit this turret, so I will have to make a new ring gear to drive the turret. No big deal, just another fun problem to handle.
