Default Checking Voltage on 4VF

I was wondering why I am unable to check the voltage of my 4VF Tx with my hobbico digital voltmeter mk III. I can check the voltage of my Rx with no problems. I am using hobbico HCAP 0101 leads (fut j transmitter & reciever {all except 9VAP}).

I'm completely baffled, my voltmeter works in all the other applications I've used it in (nicad glow plug heater, lead acid battery) including the Rx. Is there some kind of diode protection or something that is inhibiting me from checking the voltage, the Tx charges fine?

I've had 3 sets of the same leads now and I just can't figure this out (thinking the leads were defective). The manual is limited at best any and all help will be greatly appriciated.

Thanks
