You said the flaps are hinged. When you say that, are they a standard pivot hinge or fowler tracked like the the full sized aircraft? On both the 727-100 and 200, the flaps traveled back and down, almost doubling the wing area with the inboard flap stopping less than a meter off the ground at full extension. In addition, they had leading edge slats that extended forward and down roughly .5 meter.
