Hi Pete,

In my experience, definitely not.

I know you have a lot of experience with Bandits, so you probably know what I have typed below already.

From what I understand, the Balsa Bandits, the BARFs and indeed the Composite Bandits, all have the same “Vess” aerofoil. Even the old Classic has this aerofoil. (This wing section was ground breaking at the time the Bandit was first released in 1996) All Bandits also share the same 1.5 deg of washout, and the flap configuration is also similar. What does change a little bit within the family, is the wing span, with the Composite Bandits having slightly less span, and less area..

Sooo, the Balsa Bandit and the BARF should have nearly identical lifting surfaces, and as the Balsa versions tend to be a little lighter overall, they should be a bit LESS prone to stall.

Your experience is completely at odds with what I understand.. There may have been something else at work here.

I used to own a Classic Balsa Bandit, and currently fly a Super. The Super is a LOT heavier, and I have had it drop a wing on me once. I treat it with respect in the pattern, especially if it is high on fuel load.
