Thanks all.
Rodney, I do believe I like the looks of that. The hinge is set up so it's flush to one edge of the stabilizer or wing, then becomes flush to the beveled edge of the control surface when it passes the point where the control surface meets the wing/stabilizer? I can see that being a really slick setup. My dad had talked about fabric hinges set up like that that his dad used, but I didn't have a mental picture of it until now.
FHH, Can you describe that any differently? I'm having a hard time seeing what you're talking about. Also, I don't see where the plans call for a dowel or toothpick. Is there a chance they've changed the hinges since you built the kit? I don't quite see how to pin these down without a large gap as in the one-sided MonoKote hinge pictures in the link Rodney posted or without removing pieces of the hinge itself. Here's a pic of one of the ones that came with mine.
While we're talking about MonoKote, does anyone know how badly Insignia Blue would show through Jet White trim (looking WAY ahead)?
Nice to know there won't be a replay of the drill-walking incident when the replacement horizontal stabilizer parts come in (wasn't happy with how that stabilizer turned out anyway).
