I have twenty seven flights on my FW 190 with air Robarts with no problems with the gears.
When I built the plane I beefed up the gear mounts...but only a little more hard wood epoxied under the others with larger and longer wood screws going into both. Yes, you have to drill out the mounting holes in the Robarts. I left the center ones over the air cylinder.
I have never removed the sheeting as others have done.
No heavier (under 29 lbs) and I have found Robarts are fine.
I do have a set of Sierra's in a forty pound plane which is good.
So far I haven't broke the plastic blocks out like I have done to my TF-51. More careful with this one.
Put in a much stronger gear....tear up or replace your wing....your choice.
Plus I can get quick repairs which I can't get from the other.
