http://www.hobbypartz.com/79p-gt2-blue.html Radio I have one of these in orange works great for the price (I own 3 other more expensive radios by the same company)
http://www.hobbypartz.com/ub2liin.html if you don't use one the ESC will blow the radio as tamiya uses a crappy TEU104bk in it which puts full battery voltage into the receiver
servo... almost any would work I just used some junk servo in my hornet I had laying around
Batteries... if you want NiMh there are some cheap stick packs on ebay that I had good luck with like $20 for a 5000mah pack(last I looked which was some time ago) but they will take time to come so you might just want to buy some cheap local stick pack.
If you are adventurous, and don't mind lipo(they are cheaper, and have better run times) there are a few that will fit just I dunno where I put mine... you would also need a LVA for the RC.
http://www.hobbypartz.com/thac6smbachw.html charger it will charge any type of battery(even lipo if you feel like upgrading). Few people that posted here owned that model, and only spoke good of it.
Paint depends how you want to paint it if you have a airbrush, or prefer using a brush I like parma faskolor paints. If you want there are spray cans for other ones just make sure its meant for polycarbonate surfaces as if it isn't it will flake off.
For instance the following vehicle was painted 100% by hand with brushes, and masking tape it was probably my 2nd or 3rd RC body I did (note it took me like 8 hours to do including dry time for the coats you can speed it up drastically with a hair dryer set to medium held 3 feet away)
The hornet below the pinstriping was done by hand, and the black was sprayed with an airbrush (I painted behind the hornet logo white to make it's color pop as it was WAYYY too dark prior) This took me way longer then I would like to admit as I had to remove a lot of the black paint as the damn hornet stickers peeled... It also took time to perfect the pinstriping color as it was mixed by hand. Forgot the chrome bar was painted by hand as it was tiny
This following was 100% sprayed, and took like an hour
All that was done with parma faskolors btw
Note to make colors more vibrant its best to back the RC with something like white, or silver
