I would like to propose a different "waiver" option.
In order to join the club or AMA, you must sign a "waiver" saying you will take responsibility for your actions, which includes paying for the plane you shoot down due to negligence.
Hey I'd be the one of the first to sign up. One of my major problems with this gentlemans agreement is that it is all verbal. I think Big You damage it YOU bought signs should be mandatory at all fields..
At leat this way everyone knows up front what the policies are and can make a decision at to whether or not to participate[8D]
Ok, that's certainly a different way of looking at it. So let's see now... how many sport flyers would participate at a field that had a handfull of guys flying airplanes worth a few thousand each?
Without stating the obvious, how would these handfull of flyers maintain the field, pay the rents, cut the grass, and maintain AMA/IMAA sanction?
I can't imagine too many young folks, young Dads and such, that would expose themselves, and their children to such a liability.
Once again, those of us that fly multi-thousand dollar airplanes are the minority of users, and we, however small our numbers may be, inadvertantly expose these people to liability risks that most cannot afford.
