Not really. This is night and day.
It's a static kit with full interior, all the upgraded armor and zim (2000 parts). The Tamiya kit skimps on detail since it's RC and HL, well, you know how that compares, it's Pz IV shaped.
Trumpeter goes for the much larger static building population and adds to their 1/16 line with one of the most used German tanks of the war, I doubt they wake up in the morning wondering what to sell to the 25 guys in this hobby.
If I hadn't already invested in the Thoma on my Tammy IV, I'd certainly grab one to 'detail up'. I'm hoping to land a tool sprue once it's out.
In terms of price, unless you're hot and heavy for it, wait a few weeks after release and grab one from Squadron when sales drop off. Rudy got his SU-100 for near wholesale and free shipping with promos.
