Barth YMF 1/3

Took a shot at prelim. weight and balance. Was going to make up a Vanessa rig. Slick idea, and I will do it next time. But I already had a 30# postal scale so I went with weighing axles. Kind of a pain. Since scale capacity was too low for both front tires, I had to block up one main while weighing other, then reverse procedure. I lifted nose while neighbor placed block and scale under tires. Then he lifted tail to wings level and I got reading. Then got wings level weight on tail wheel. It weighed 44.6# total with 6# on tail wheel. With both front and rear weights plus wheelbase (wings level), it's easy enough to calculate the CG. It's tail heavy. Needs nose weight.

This is just preliminary. Have not bought batteries yet. Plan was to install in front cockpit, but unless they weigh like bricks, they're not far enough forward to help much. I'll probably end up like WacoNut with a wad of lead on firewall.
