Having the top wing on and the flying wires installed should help. It sounds like you have another issue though. I have no experience with the Brison engine. I would double check the balance of the prop to start with. I would not try to fly the plane until the vibration issue is resolved IMO.

Prop balance has been checked.
I was hoping someone on the forum has direct experience with this engine in conjunction with a somewhat equivalent size/weight Bipe. Research has told me that the 5.8 is known as a "shaker".
My next step, now that all has been fixed and tightened, will be to wait for good weather, put the whole plane together (it takes quite a while to do) and re-run the engine and see if the situation has improved. Possibly experiment a bit with the timing (advance it a bit more).
If the situation hasn't improved, I guess the cleaned/repaired and improved plane, sadly, will be returned to my buddy.
