I have seen them film covered, and it was not nearly as nice and painted. It looks like a model vs. a miniature C-47/DC-3. The one compromise would be using chrome ultracote that you scuff with a steel wool or scotchbrite and then put on panel by panel. You could then use chrome vinyl for rivets as there are several sources for that. CVEICH, a member here, makes great laser cut vinyl rivets. You would have to use some sort of stick on material for the fiberglass pieces. You could use FLite Metal, or chrome sign vinyl.
