In the early 1950s when studying for a commercial pilot license the ground school that included air regulations, airmanship, engines and aiplanes, navigation, and meteorology (weather) had particular emphasis on weather. The government assumed that most commercial pilot would end up working in the northern bush where no weather information was availale in those days.
