Sounds like a great place to start. I have a Tiger 60 that will be my next build. I haven't built a Goldberg kit yet but from the looks of the laser cut parts and the plans and instructions, it should be a nice build. If you stick with Top Flite, Sig, Greatplanes and Goldberg I suspect you will be fine.
If you are like me, you'll cut parts too short, sand off too much balsa and glue things in the wrong place.. etc. But don't give up it'll come out fine and fly great, whatever you decide on!
