hi nizmoz
it all depends on your own personal preference as to what you want to use and your budget
theres no point saying get this get that and it being way over your budget
i use tamiya as i have a lot of there rc stuff dotted around my house and garage lol
i would use a tamiya esc and a cheap 2.4ghz radio gear (transmitter and receiver)
and a standard size servo

as you think your electric board is dead you might as well cut the wires from the motor to the board (as close to the board as possible)
lift car off ground place on bricks so wheels are off the ground to prevent the car from taking off
after you have cut the wires to try the motor i would then put one wire from the motor in one of the terminals on the battery
then the other one to see if the motor runs then we can go from there
