My son is DAV and using the system. He is lucky to have a good team working with him. You still need to be your own advocate but he is getting good care. He had a foot problem he had suffered with for the last two years he was in but the Army failed to treat it. Bloody socks was a way of life for him. He went to his VA doctor and he got on it real fast. He had several doctors and nursing come in to confirm his doctor's opinion all on the same visit and then a short procedure a few days later.
