MAAC 3d safety rules
Just recieved my new maac mag with new rules concerning 3d. (maac is canada's ama) It now states: "3D type flying is only allowed when no other aircraft are in the air and the distances such as 100 ft from spectator/parking areas and 20 ft from the pilot must be strictly adhered to."
Is this similar to the AMA's code? To me, this should read " low level hovering maneuvres is only allowed...etc" Does this mean I cannot do harriers, parachutes, hovering at 200 ft, etc, etc, unless I am the sole plane in the air?
Thing that ticks me off is that our club is riddled with heli pilots(not that there is anything wrong with that) That hover over the runway all the time. Isn't this 3d flying as well? there have been more close calls in our club from out of control helis than planes.
Just seems that this rule was not well thought out and probably written by someone who is into control line.(not that there is anything wrong with that)
