I did a similar thing back in 1999, using a dummy drop tank to conceal the space between the engine nacelles on the 2nd gen MiG-29 I did for Topgun Aircraft. It was designed for a single engine and a bifurcated thrust tube. So the two engine nacelles were joined and the tank made it look like there were two.
