Back in the 30s when my dad was a kid in a foster home (read that as the farm needed another field hand) he learn to fear and respect his foster father when one of his mule bit him on the shoulder and he threw a haymaker and laid the mule out cold. The veterinarian that set the mule's jaw (broken in three places) also set the old man's arm (broken in two places)!
