Agree with you on the old RX18 with crystal. To back up even further the RX14 had way better sound on it then the RX18. I wish the sounds of the RX14 had migrated across to the RX18. IF they had done that I bet more people would have been happy with the stock electronics.
I still have a couple of RX14's. I should do a video up just to show people that the sound was actually better.
