I haven't ever bought any of the golden clevises without threads but I have some from ARF assembling and I think they were used as rigging? Been a long time. I buy Dubro and there solder clevises are silver and take soldering well but are labeled as solder clevises. I had gone a bit nuts once trying to solder the gold colored ones to a control rod, I got it but it broke loose finally and caused a crash. That was a long time ago.
With the ABS plastic parts like cowls or pants you should glass them on the inside so they don't split or crack. I don't put the pants on until after maiden and I get a couple days worth of flight with the plane. I have been known to land a bit odd with a new plane and break the wheel pants. I also fly off of some very nasty surfaces though.
