Perhaps his mold wore out faster than he had anticipated when he announced the price before starting production? If, for example, he's found out that he's only getting 7 usable castings when he had anticipated 10 or 12 before the molds had to be replaced, then that would make a huge difference to the piece price... There's no need to be throwing accusations around just because you personally are experiencing sticker shock.
