I don't own a 72 by my 115 gets noticeably hotter than the 2 cycle engines I've had. One of my fellow club members assured me this is normal. The 2 cycles do get hot but seem to cool quicker. Especially if they are allowed to idol for a moment. I think the four strokes have more surface area that gets noticeably hot. After a few years no harm to the FA 115 and I have finally learned not to burn my arm (the engine is inverted so the hot muffler is on the opposite side). It may be worth the cost of an inexpensive infrared thermometer to check that your engine is not truly overheating.
