I found a can of polyurethane clear and have sprayed the decal. Will try applying it in next few days. Hopefully that will prevent the ink running and cracking up.
The spray can polyurethane clear I have found is solvent base, and although water clear at first, yellowed after a while. I have used Lucite clear gloss acrylic spray paint with good results. Or, water base polyurethane from the can. I hope your poly paint does not yellow on you, and that the formulation down under is different than ours. Good luck.
