Default Fitting a twin into a cowl

Hi, Looking for help and advise before ruining a cowl for a recently purchased (used) Corby Starlet. Looks to me like a good fit.
Cowl is fiberglass and has a horizontal seam joining top and bottom halves.

My thoughts are to dremal (saw tooth blade or abrasive?) the seam, then fabricate some supporting "tongues" to then help mate the halves.

LOL, You can probably see why I'm soliciting insight as to a good procedure before proceeding.

Hope these pictures post - my first attempt

Thanks
