So I have done a lot of research, but I still have a few questions about scratch building a boat. I may or may not do this due to the fact that I am a beginner.
1. Do you have to use a specific kind of wood for the boat to float? No, most common woods work. If using plywood, use good quality aircraft type
2. Catamarans handle better, right? That really depends on how you're going to use the boat. If you're racing on choppy water, it will be better than a hydroplane but not as good as a vee hull
Is It true that the bigger the boat is, the easier it is to control? Not really. A larger boat is easier to see and reacts slower due to it's size but, on land they can be a real handful
And last, is it cheap( for the hull ) Again, depends on the builder and how far you want to go as far as details, size and power are concerned. More power requires a stronger hull
Thanks!
