If it is exactly like you wrote then simply go get another (new) fastener (screw) and replace the stripped one.
Think he means he stripped the hex, and if so...
Drill out the screw. If that doesn't work, get a cheap hex key that you have 2 of or something, place it in the socket at a right angle, and fill the hex with solder. Let it cool and then try to twist it out.
