Hi,
So.... I finally flew the P-51. I've gotta say that after putting three flights on her, I have to say that all of the issues I had with this ARF are now in a bit more perspective. This plane is the easiest-to-fly warbird I've ever flown. Even very nose-heavy (because I miscalculated the amount of ballast I needed and can't get it back out easily), the landing speed was ridiculously low and stable. The first landing was TOO slow and I bounced and nosed over (so glad I only had a 2-blade prop on her). The next two were probably the best landings I've ever made with a tail-dragger. It's been a few months since I've flown, but the guys at the field (a few of which I didn't know) thought I was a real pro.
This bird has no pitch change whatsoever with flap deployment and tracks amazingly. I still wish they'd have let someone past puberty cover the thing, but they sure did design a GREAT FLYING warbird.
