Evening clue. Thanks; Ernie P.
What warbird do I describe?
Clues:
- This aircraft suffered from being “not available for production within the required time”. IOW; it couldn’t be brought into large scale production before the need had passed.
- In addition, it was argued that the new aircraft could not do anything that couldn’t be done almost as well by existing aircraft already in production.
- Part of the problem was that it was designed to fill one set of requirements; and then the requirements were changed completely.
- Essentially, it was originally to have fulfilled one role; and then another role was substituted.
- It was essentially a Frankenstein aircraft; a part of this one, a piece of that one; some of this and some of that; and a bit of the other.
- Despite which it was actually a very capable aircraft.
