looks to me like the second nut is on backwards in your photo. I always thought the cone went into the primary and the friction between those surfaces is part of what made it work. Or am I all wet?
As for the heat cycling, you may be right as Saitos are AAC rather than ABC like some of my OS 2 strokes. I don't know and just do what has always worked for me in the past.
