COLE,
Thanks for the update on the ECU software of your RAM 500. Bob P. should be sending you the Operating Manual on his R03B version which contains a wealth of useful info on the RAM/FTE/RTI series of turbines. I suggest turning down the glow parameter slightly to avoid burning plugs. If you change plug types, then the parameter MAY have to be adjusted accordingly. Bob's manual describes a procedure for doing this. As stated earlier, I use the Coleman Powermax for the starting gas with no problems whatsoever. However, Powemax and a suitable trigger assembly may be hard to find and standard "blowtorch" propane WITH a regulator is a second option. Also I've moved to off-board gas with the CO2-like cylinder out of the model.
All it takes is a couple of Festo fittings and a shutoff valve. Finally, I recommend a 2S 2000 mAh LiPo instead of the 6 cell NiCd or NiMh ECU battery for more consistent starts. Although Bob P. recommends a Duralite LiIon battery I found the LiPos to be better. All this is from 7+ years of operating RAM and FTE turbines.
Rgds,
Art ARRO
