Lipo Combatability Please Read

Hello, as you will know in a few seconds, i cam a complete and udder newbe. I am looking to get into rc. My main contender is a Probate Blackjack 26. On Probates website it says I need a programming module to run lipos. Is this true?

Here is the inside of the boat. I would appreciate an answer speedily as I am negotiating with the current owner of the boat. Again, my question is can I plug in lips in its current state and have it run. He says it has been tested with Nimh battery. Thanks so much
