So you have built a Tank ,even Heng Long tanks most of them are not as they came out of the box. If you have painted it and upgraded it its all part of the hobby,Getting it to work right is the hard part (Tamiya Tanks if you build it to instructions it should work) Heng Long if you upgrade its getting the upgrades to work together that can be a Dark Art. So if you buy a ready to run tank and just charge the battery and run it for fun its not a hobby its just a fun toy (some of them are very expensive toys ) .

Pete Hi, I think you have given the definitive answer that describes the difference between the two, I would add that the builder in my opinion is the one most likely to stay the course.
