I am not sure that you want a glider. A typical model glider will fly slowly and may not be able to penetrate the winds at altitude so will not make it back to the designated landing area.

You might be better off with something like a typical IC powered trainer sans prop and UC. This will give you something that will be steerable but stable and fly a bit faster on the glide. A bit of foam around the payload should safeguard it.
