These pristine wings now require weathering, from the Sean McHale school of "how to make your plane look very used".. I used artist oils and base coat paint in my fine air brush.
First a good wash of thinned out, mostly black oil was applied to all surfaces
This oil was allowed to dry, and then all most completely removed by using paper towels, but ALWAYS wiping in the direction of air flow.. This oil fills all the panel lines and rivet depression.. Some oil was left on in the certain places where you would expect grime to be, behind the U/C bays, and around the hinge lines.. etc..
I added some detail with my air brush at the hinge points and Slat actuator/line.. This is fairly simple, and really starts to make the wing look realistic.. "Post it" masks are brilliant..
The 45 deg sweep of the F-100 wing can be confusing at times. It is difficult to keep all this weathering parallel, especially when the wings are detached from the fuse..
