Every figure starts and ends with straight and level flight. In Basic that will always be parallel to the flight line. In higher classes it may be perpendicular to the flight line. These lines are not always at the same altitude above the ground for different figures.
I don't understand what you mean by the "horizontal lines at the top of the dumpty bump and shark's tooth". BTW, it is called a HUMPTY Bump
