Interesting thread. I've had an RDS8000 since they first came out. So far, no problems like the one being discussed here. I do need to send mine in anyway, as the gymbal on the right stick is cracked where the stick mounts. I probably shouldn't trust the expoxy and microballon fix that got me thru this past summer. I really like mine, and can't see the added cost of the SD-10 given I fly mostly WW1 stuff.
One option with the trade-in program is only to get the Tx (and Tx battery pack and charger). In this case, you only pay $100 (if I heard correctly) for the SD-10GS. After the simplicity of the RDS8000 the SD-10GS does take a little learning (and re-learning). But there are plenty of features that should appeal to a WWI flyer. I'll never need all the toggles and switches or all the flexibility but knowing the gimbal wires aren't going to break is all by itself worth a $100 upgrade.
