Hello all, I finally got time to put in some flights on the Hawk and needless to say she's flying great! Luckily the weather cleared Saturday at our field here in Atlanta and I got 3 flights in on her. I was able to do some fine tuning after each flight and she kept getting better and better! My overall take on the airframe is its AWESOME!!! The Hawk is very stable in all speed ranges and at any attitude. You can get real comfortable with it in just a few flights.
I got a chance to fly her with the Powerbox Igyro for the first time and it performed perfectly. The Hawk is very stable and doesn't need the gyro but it will come in handy on windy days.
I am running the new PBS TJ23 turbine in the Hawk and its running great. The engine is super simple to install and makes great power. It pushes the Hawk around with ease and has a very quick acceleration time.
The Hawk tracks very very well, and holds a lot of momentum, which makes loops, split S's and all your scale aerobatics very smooth and effortless. I flew around most of the time at around half throttle and she was very happy there.
Im using the control throws provided by Anton and they are right on the mark. Ive got the CG a little nose heavy at the moment but it flys great with plenty of elevator authority. I will start moving the cg back on the next round of flights.
I had my timer set at 6 min and I was landing with more than a third of a tank left. With the tank almost directly over the CG I saw no trim changes as the fuel burns off.
Once again Anton has done a great job with the Hawk and I couldn't be more pleased. Danny and I will have ours at Joe Nall in just a few weeks, and we look forward to getting some good flying in. Make sure you come check um out!
