No real differences in flying...other than I.C. engines come up to speed just a little slower than electric where all the torque is available from the start.....but it is doubtful you will notice this difference. Electrics are obviously more reliable when everything is set up properly however a well set up glow engine will run just as reliably. The flight times will be significantly longer so be prepared. And there will be a lot more mess. If you don't want the mess but want the flight times of I.C........look into some of the smaller gas engines....there are several mnfg'ers of 10-17cc gas engines (.40-.90 size) that utilize cheap gas vs expensive glow fuel and you wont have quite the mess as with glow. You also have to consider the support equipment...at a minimum a glow ignighter and some sort of starter...whether its a chicken stick or an electric starter (I suggest an electric starter to save your sanity...)
I have all three from 500W electrics to 4 stroke glow to 170cc gas...they've all got their advantages and disadvantages.....but I make my partner wipe off all the glow snot....
