Be aware that the K&S tubing is very thin wall. I used it to mount floats on a beaver, but to gain some extra strength I shaped some wood to fit inside the aluminum tubing. Then slathered the wood up with epoxy and slid it into the aluminum.

Yup, the K&S tubing is not sufficient, without reinforcement.
I believe that Glen Torrence sells a tear drop tubing thaty has sufficient strength for the OP's usage.
