All my tail-draggers have enough clearance between prop and ground when the tail comes up and fuselage is level. I know that isn't absolutely necessary, but if it were me, I'd use tall enough gear to do that.
I've started training people on an LT-40 with an OS 46LA and an 11x5 prop. It's perfect for that purpose, but if it were my plane for my own flying I would use a Saito 62. Very powerful, but light enough to balance nicely. I would need more ground clearance to do that.
